Super Secret Recipe

I know that I got you excited with that title!! Below is a chex mix recipe that I received a few years ago from a friend and it is tried and true. I have tested it against other recipes with many different groups of people and there is something different about this one. Just ask Trey's grandfather and he will tell you. I thought that in the interest of the season I would give this recipe out to see what you think once you make it. Enjoy!!

1 box wheat chex
1 box rice chex
1 box cheerios
2 packages pretzels (I use minis and sticks)
2 lbs mixed nuts
1 lb pecan halves

SAUCE:

1 cup oil
1/4 lb butter
2 tsp celery salt
1/2 small can of accent
2 Tbsp allspice
1 Tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp garlic salt
____________________
Melt butter and combine all sauce ingredients - pour over mix - bake 4 hours
at 200.

A few tips...Before leaving the store ask the cashier for 4-5 paper bags. When you mix the ingredients together use two CLEAN garbage bags (one inside the other) for extra hold. This way you can easily dump everything in and roll around in the sauce for better coating. Once you pour in the sauce and coat everything well divide up the mix into two separate paper bags. Fold the top down and before putting both bags in the oven wet your hands and rub water on the outsides of the bag without saturating. Check every 30-45 mins and move around the mix to ensure no burning and also re-wet the bags. If you get a bag too wet you can switch it out for a new one.

I think that is all. Let me know how it goes. This recipe fills about 5 gallon size ziploc bags and freezes amazing!!

This IS a great recipe. I think that the homemade version is MUCH better than the store bought Chex Mix. Thanks for sharing!
