I am trying something new these days. It is what I like to call traveling light. I have always had a problem with overpacking. I know you think overpacking and you may think I am exaggerating but it is true. I am talking like three bags for just me for 1 day! Longer than that and do not get me started. Anytime we go anywhere I feel like I have to take extra outfits that I KNOW FOR A FACT that I am not going to wear just so I will have "CHOICES". There are also times I get too busy to pack so I just take everything plus the kitchen sink because I have no clue if I grabbed anything that matches. How crazy is that??!?!
Last weekend I went to Nashville for a one night stay and took two bags. One was small like a tolietry bag and one was a small tote bag. I only took one outfit to sleep in and wore that home. Other than that I took no other clothes. I actually just left in one outfit and wore that all day!! After coming home on Sunday and not having a mountain of stuff to unpack I felt quite liberated. So, this weekend Trey and I are going to Chattanooga for Saturday and coming home Sunday and I plan on doing the same. We will be going to the aquarium, dinner and church so going with just two outifts (one I leave in and one more) will be hard for me but I plan to do it and not care. Yay for me moving forward and trying new things.
Just to tell you how bad we are.....the first trip we ever took with Taylor and Tori and we went to the Bahamas and drove to Cape Canaveral to get on the boat. We went to their house with our stuff all loaded to pick them up all proud cause we thought we did pretty good. I think we actually planned to take Tori's Altima but when they saw how much stuff we had they could not believe it and we started thinking there was no way our stuff would fit what what they had into a car. We ended up taking the Blazer and even that seemed like a tight fit....mainly because of our stuff. Out of all the stuff I took I did not even wear half. I took a bunch of stuff for no good reason ;) Since then we are continually teased about our luggage usage by Taylor. When we went to San Fran we talked about getting a convertible and Taylor said there was no way our luggage would fit in one of those for he had seen how we traveled ;) Well, this is for you Hammett family. The next trip we take we will be traveling substantially lighter...We are going to be pros by then ;) This pic below is proof that we are making strides. This is my stuff for Chattanooga with room for Trey to put some more things in my bag so he can take less!
