Countdown to all things baby

We are back.....again! Things have been continued to be crazy over the past few weeks and I think we have finally decided that we are going to have to accept this as a way of life over the next few months with trips planned, construction planned at some point to fix the flood damage, and the fact that we will have to prepare our house for this sweet baby at some point!

It is really crazy to believe but this week I will be beginning WEEK 15 which seems so weird to me. Not sure what I think things were supposed to be like at week 15 but they seem different that I thought. I know...such a weird statement. This whole pregnancy thing is just so weird not knowing what to expect the first time around everything just seems odd. I have another check up March 3rd so we will get to see how things are progressing. Hopefully, things will continue to look good. I am hoping from here I can only feel better. The past two weeks I have had some pretty consistent sickness. I hear that it goes away week 16 for most people so here's to hoping ;) All in all though I have to be honest and say the whole sickness thing is still not as bad as I thought it would be (I tread lightly there because I guess it can come at later times in the pregnancy or crop up undexpectedly).

We find out APRIL 1st what we are having and are pretty excited about that. Up to this point we have really not bought anything and only looked at things in a really general sense. I guess that is normal? I just felt like it was pointless to really go shopping for what we wanted in cribs or anything until we knew what we were having. Somehow that might make a difference in the style crib or chair that we get. I also have kept the name talk to a minimum too. I just hate to get really attached to a name and end up having the opposite sex and having to hold that name for later. Maybe this will save us some time...but probably not. I might just be weird but for some reason I am setting April 1st as the date planning can really begin.

So, we are doing some thinking on what we will need (which is everything being our first). I am trying to think of things in a more general sense and looking at high chairs, strollers etc that could be used for both boy and girl though so whatever we get could be used for a second child. I assume it is realistic that things like this would be able to make it through several rounds. I guess someone can tell me if I am just dreaming ;)

A Note of Thanks....

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those friends and family that called, e-mailed, sent cards and even visited at the funeral home during the loss of Trey's grandmother. The love that has been shown has been so uplifting to Trey and I and his family during this difficult time.

I'm getting so excited for you guys with this baby coming! And yes...you are normal to not make many plans until you know what the sex is. That's how I was, too. :) And, I would go generic on lots of the bigger stuff so you can use it for a 2nd baby. I'm so sorry about Trey's grandmother. Ya'll will continue to be in our prayers.

I am glad to hear that things have been going good for you so far during the pregnancy. We didn't look at anything until we found out what this little bundle of joy was going to be. But I have to say, the nursery is coming along now. I just want the nursery complete in case they put me on bedrest. I am so sorry to hear about Trey's grandmother. We will continue to keep you guys in our prayers.

First of all, it is so tough to lose a grandparent...I just went through it a few months ago. All I can say is that it gets a little better, and there will be something that will remind you (and Trey) of her everyday. So, you will not forget her, don't worry. That was my biggest fear!
Second: My baby advise- get everything big (stroller, exersaucer, etc) in unisex because you will use them again and your child will be very mad at you when they are older & 'he' is seen in a pink highchair that his sister used first!
2 big things I couldn't do without:
a portable swing (doesn't take up as much room as the big huge ones and can be moved from room to room-like the bathroom when you are trying to get a shower) and an exersaucer (will come in handy around month 4 when you are still trying to get a shower and/or cook supper)
Good luck!
