Adapting The Goal...and other updates

Things are good here at the Maharrey household. We have both been working some ridiculous hours the past three weeks or so. Things are finally looking to be calming down in the near future. I actually had the day off today and almost forgot what it was like to just up and do whatever all day long.

The big event that I have been working on was this past Saturday and it was a pretty good turnout. We had about 700 people. In my head I am calculating what we could have done different and how to make it better but that is just me being critical. It was a great event and the kids and adults had lots of fun.

So....this is an update on my running. The ribbon run was this past Saturday and obviously I did not run because of my event going on at work. I had to be there at 7 am and so it did not work out to do both. I was sad to miss it but I knew that would be the case. I feel like I have accomplished some variation of my goal to run a 5K. I can most certainly go the distance in some form or fashion and am getting faster. I am not up to a 100% run all of the time. This past Wednesday when I ran we did about 4 miles and we got it down to walking 9 minutes total out of the whole deal thrown in throughout not taken all at once. The longest I am going is about 15-20 minutes of running before taking a minute break. I know I have slacked some on training but I think the big picture goal was accomplished which was to get back out on the open road and begin getting some distance in again whether it be walking or running. Even on days when I do not want to run I have been walking 3-4 miles. I am getting out there and getting back to where I feel like I need a workout each day again. Also, it has encouraged me to get up earlier these days. I have been getting up at 5:45 at least a few days a week to workout in the mornings. All in all I think things turned out well and will only get better from here.

This will be a short week work wise since I was off today and we are actually closed at work on Friday to get ready for an event Friday night. I will work the party and then we will head to the ATL for a weekend of fun with friends over there.

I'm glad you had a day off and some time just to relax and breathe. That's ALWAYS nice! I'm proud of you for the running thing, too. I need some motivation to start back again. Since the kids have come it has been too hard. I need to wake up early, though, and get back in the habit.
