So, most of you know by now that I spent a little over a 24 hour period in Huntsville Hospital between Tuesday and today which marked the beginning of our 31st week! I started the day out with a minor headache and by lunch it was severe and I felt like I needed to get out of the office for a while. I felt like it was worse than usual so I called Trey and he suggested a blood pressure check. I hate putting my arm in the automated cuff so he checked around and a tech of his had their cuff and stethescope.
I got their around 1 pm and he checked my bp twice and got high readings and told me to sit tight and he would call Dr. Callison's nurse and check with her to see if we should be concerned. They said go to Labor and Delivery. Well, I had somewhat of an idea that this is where anyone pregnant with issues goes but Trey was taken back and thought we might be going to have the baby that day ;) We were both not thinking the clearest. I came home and changed clothes and trey was right behind me once his replacement showed up and we headed out. We packed no clothes because it never crossed my mind that we would be staying ;) Naive I know.....I already have a bag in place if it happens again with bare necessities ;)
We got there and upon arrival I had a slight temp, high bp readings, 3 plus pitting edema and a now even more severe headache. Since we had not preregisetered yet we had to answer lots of general questions and questions pertinent to the moment and fill out tons of paperwork. Then, they started the IV. They had a really tough time finding a vein due to the all around swelling. Once in they gave me a bag or two of fluids and also a cocktail of phenegran and nubain. That stuff kicked in about 5 seconds after it went into the IV and I was out like a light. The doc rounded about 5 which I vaguely remember. She talked with Trey and apparently me too but I just do not remember much about that conversation.
I finally came off IV around 6 and stayed in L & D till around 10 then we got moved to a room in Antepartum. They monitored the baby for a total of about 5 or 6 hours the whole time I was there. All readings on the baby came back perfect every time.
We were on such a roller coaster because this all caught us so off guard! We do feel like we are getting great care and we are now set to see the doc every week till he comes. Results at this point are good for a week at a time and each week could be a new adventure. We just ask for continued prayers that we can make it a little longer each time. Our goal is 36 if I continue to have issues but like I said things will be evaluated weekly.
We got home about 4:30 today and I will be at home resting until Saturday. Then we did get approved to go to Florence for the baby shower Saturday and then back home right after and I will probably spend Sunday at home too.
Thank you to all who have e-mailed, called, texted etc....We are so blessed to have so many people praying for us and concerned about what is going on. We love you all!
