Parker James Maharrey was born on September 27, 2011. I had a scheduled c-section since I had one previously it just seemed like the right choice for us. I think that I was MORE nervous this time around because I knew what to expect. I went with some different drugs in my spinal this time due to the itching reaction last time so I got some different drugs after the surgery as well than I did the first time. That part still did not turn out the way I had hoped because I was super out of it the first day until about 7 pm but after that they took me off the heavy stuff at my request and things got better.
We had a most wonderful experience in that we got to have our sweet baby in the room with us at the hospital. We got to enjoy all the many visitors that came to see us and Parker. It was JUST what we had hoped for. Since Cooper spent time in the NICU and we had no indication he would we felt like that might happen again. Parker did have his cord wrapped around his neck when they pulled him out but he was fine. In recovery I asked the nurse to check and see if he went to the nursery or NICU and when she said he went to the room I just burst into tears. It was such a great feeling.
We came home from the hospital 2 days later. We opted to not stay that third night because of Cooper being at home waiting for us and I did great and was up and around so much I figured it was useless to be at the hospital. The toughest part this time around is just that with other kids at home already you do not have the luxury of resting when the baby does etc...When Parker rested I tried to spend time with Cooper so I feel like it took me longer to get my full energy back but other than that recovery was not necessarily any harder. I said it the first time and would say it to anyone having a c-section. When the nurses say that you need to get up and walk do it!! I walked both times as much as I could each day and it makes a world of difference in how fast you get back up to speed.
Here are a few pics from the hospital....there are lots but this is just what I can upload quickly.
