So, we are gearing up to head out on Tuesday morning. Trey and I could not be more happy about heading out for a long vacation together. I think we have mentioned that a time or two. We have not packed but a few things and we both work all day tomorrow so we are a little behind but that is alright. We are not going to sweat it....to much!
We headed home (to Florence) this weekend for Trey to participate in the WC Handy bike ride. He did a whopping 70 miles!!!! Yeah, I am proud of you!! He contemplated the 100 miles but due to impending weather they shut the race down at 70 miles. The bad weather never came but it was probably a good thing he went ahead and stopped because he was exhausted Saturday night.
One thing I was reminded of this weekend is that you are never too old to need your parents to take care of you ;) I was under the weather Saturday night and was up half the night with a bad stomach ache and other things. Mom got me some medicine, ice chips, a coke and a blanket....you get the idea. It was nice to have her there to take care of me. She even sat up with me and then we both dozed off in the living room somewhere in the early morning. She would do that for all of us and happily even if it means going around sickness or whatever we may have. Thanks mom for always being right there to take care of us!! Also, my dad has done this a few times last year when I caught everything under the sun from working with the kiddos. We appreciate you guys!!
On a different note...I learned today that you should never rig a piece of clothing so that you can continue to wear it when it needs a few repairs. I am a big fan of safety pins for just about anything. Let me explain. I have a favorite pair of black pants (I have about 10 pairs for real) these are just my fav. So, it is missing a button and the two little things that snap at the top are missing as well. It is hard to explain but you obviously get the pic that they needed a few things done to then to be wearable. Well, me and sewing do not go hand in hand shall we say. I decided to get out the safety pins. Those fix anything right.....kinda like duct tape ;) I got a big safety pin and used that to latch my pants. So today we are getting out of the car at the grocery store and I start walking and feel something sharp on my thigh. Then, it REALLY begins to jab me good. I slow my pace and walk side to side because if I bend my leg it jabs me even more.
At this point Trey has no clue what is going on. It hits me that the safety pin is down there sticking in my leg!!!!!! YIKES!!!! First, I start laughing histerically after walking weird. I turn and go back to the car and explain what is going on. He is a little out of it still I guess not realizing people actually do things like that (probably not lots of people maybe just me). I sit in the car and he stands with his back to me and I lay back and try to get a hold of it. No such luck of COURSE! So, I do what any sane person with a safety pin jabbed in their leg does......I completely undo my pants to get to the safety pin all while laughing so hysterically that I am literally about to PEE MY PANTS and I start crying almost!!! Then, I see Trey's shoulders start to jiggle. I then got him all tickled even though he was trying to act all cool about it. Once I retrieved the safety pin I was laughing so hard it took me a minute to the get pants done back up. WHEW!!! Close call but I safely extracted the pin from down my leg in the parking lot of Southern Family.
I think the moral of this story for me is to not try and extend the life of things with safety pins. I should just stick to duct tape. It is much less dangerous ;) Just kidding!!! I should take them to get FIXED or get rid of them! You thought I missed the point didn't you.
Have a great Monday!!

You are so funny! I have safety pins in a lot of my clothes. Why pay to have them fixed when they work perfectly well with a safety pin. Well, I guess now we know why! : ) Hope you guys have fun on your trip!
